Questions for 2007 Silverado I am looking to buy.
So I want a project truck and was looking to buy something newer, and then work on it. As luck would have it there is a truck here for sale, just have some questions. It is a 2WD 2007 ECSB NNBS 2LT with the flex fuel 5.3, and has 171,000 miles. It has the center console, and is a factory leather truck, with no other significant options other than the 20" LTZ wheels.
Questions are as follows:
1) Is $7000 low enough of a price? I have seen kbb at $9000, and NADA at $13000, but is it REALLY worth it?
2) Is there anything to be a known issue on these trucks to look for?
3) It isn't in the greatest shape, but most of it is a quick fix. He has stated that the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero two weeks ago with no noticeable change in driving feel or idle. After adjusting the oil pressure sender wires it hasn't done it since... Is this cause for concern, or a simple fix?
4) Do these truck do well with this high of mileage?
Thanks for any replies in advance.

Not sure about the price, its always based on what shape its in.
things that come to mind, Cracked dash pad, driveshaft failures, early electronic issues and the 4L60 4speed transmission, 4 speed with 170K+ miles, I would skip.
I would hold out stock for 6L80 6 speed trans, that's worth a extra 1-2K IMO
That's all I got for now.

The 6 speed is a better trans but didnt show up on 5.3 engines until 09 and only in ltz trims. I have had several high mileage 4l60e's with no problems. One is my wifes 04 yukon with the 5.3. Another one is my old ls1 fbody. It had boltons making significantly more hp than stock with over 230k when I sold it. BTW its the 99z in my sig. IDK if the 07 5.3's had dod but that maybe a concern to look at. The 5.3 engines will go a long way if taken care of. Just take it out put it in "D" take off normal then go WOT when traction wont be an issue and run it till it shifts through all gears into "OD" and if nothing seems to be wrong then Id buy it. You cant do any worse after you buy it. This is how I test all the used vehicles I buy and I have had alot of them (close to 20). Many used as dd'ers running 100 miles a day to work and back.

I decided to pass. If I was in the states where I could just go get the parts, I would've. I knew about the transmission differences, and to be honest, it's part of the reason I entertained it anyway. Built 4l80 for $2500, yes please... Either way thanks for the replies, I will just grab one when I get to the states in December.
