Default Questions before buying 2009 Sierra

Hi guys,

I've tried searching, but I can't get a solid answer to what I'm wondering. I'm buying a 2009 Sierra ECSB 2wd sometime next week, although I'm looking for the best platform possible for power. Anything special transmission wise I should look for mainly? Do the 6 speeds only come with the 6l80e? Would the 4 speed auto be better for holding power? Looking to buy one with the 5.3

Thanks ahead of time, still very new to trucks and automatics especially.

Itll be a 4spd bc its not a cc. As for swapping in a 6spd depending your power level will be worth it but if you are wanting big hp and beat on it a lot the 4L80e swap will be the best route

agree with what was already said. Find a truck with the 6l80e and spend the extra money. The extra gears helps with stock performance and gas mileage...if you do a little extra reading (not being a **** it's always great to learn), the 6 speeds seem to do well holding power up until 550-600rwhp....

Can you get the vin, and we can make sure what's in the truck as stock? If I were you, I would consider seeing if there are '13s available.. GM may still have rebates available.

Sorry guys, I was actually looking at a 2011. Here's the link:

Cars for Sale: 2011 GMC Sierra C/K1500 SLE in Gainesville, TX 76240: Truck Details - 358762808 - AutoTrader.com

I'm definitely still searching on it but with such a large forum it's kind of hard to zero in on exactly what I'm looking for, but I understand people who don't use the search function at all are annoying lol.

So best bet for an ECSB would be to go 2010 and up transmission wise?

Any big engine changes from 2009 to 2013? I'm trying to get a truck under $22,000 is the only reason I'm not buying new

And as far as performance, maybe a turbo kit from Trick or KB down the road but it'll be a mild build most likely, the car I'm trading in is 320whp and around 3,000 lbs so I'm sure I'll need a little bit of power to make up for not having a car anymore
