Quick Diablo InTune Reveiw.
Hey Guys,
I know there is not alot of praise for these tuners on here, but I wanted to give my .02 cents. I picked one up used from a friend for $210 the other day, updated it (took forever) and did the 87 Octane tune.
I've got some experience with tuning having owned a G8 GT in the past so I can honestly say this tune makes a pretty decent improvement. I know y'all recommended that I go with a dyno tune or go with Blackbear, but I'm up in Canada, and the dyno tuners I talked to wanted alot of $$$ to tune my truck, which is basically stock except for an Airaid MIT. I also wanted to keep it under a certain budget so that I don't have to sleep on the couch when my wife see's what I spent.
There is a big difference in the way the transmission shifts. Even if I picked up only a few HP right now, the truck feels totally improved in terms of driveability and transmission feels less sloppy and way smarter; more responsive with crisp shifts.
I'm getting a Diablew custome Tune in a few weeks also.
* I just wanted to make reference to my G8 GT and the superchips cortex tune that I had. My neighbour had the same car as me we both had intakes and catback's, but he had a custom tune. His car put down 334WHP and my G8 with the superchips tune put down 313WHP on the same day same dyno. -- On the street from a dig or a roll, I could pull on him everytime... And it was everytime my car shifted I'd gain ground. His dyno chart also only had a peak of 334, where mine was a more flat curve with no peak. So even though the diablo might not make as much peak HP on these trucks I still think its a decent tuner, especially if you can score a used one! I'm sure the blackbear tune is impressive, but for the $200 and change I spent I'm happy.
Thats my reveiw.

There was very little gain (hundreths of a second) when I when from my diablo tuner to a BB road tune. The shifting is where the best improvement was in the BB tune. I may have gained just a little better (1/2 mpg at best) fuel mileage with the BB setup as well. I really don't think the diablo setup deserves the bashing it gets around here.
It will be interesting to see what you think of your diablew custom tune down the road.

i think diablo is the best for hemi cars. i was running 12.90@107 with stock longblock 5.7 2007 300c. datalog tuned for knock retard and dyno tuned for 12.5 afr on 93cai tune. johan helped out from diablo also. i was the fastest stock stall and rear gear 5.7 in the country with no custom cmr tune.

I purchased an inTune for my last truck, an 07.5 VortecMax. I noticed almost no difference after installing the tune from stock. I forked over the cash a couple months later for a BB tune and it was substantially better than the canned tune from diablo. If I had it to do over again I would have went straight to BB the first time, no questions asked.

Either way, getting a custom tune through any one with some experience tuning, regardless who tunes it, will make you wonder why you waited on getting a custom tune in the first place.

you should have gotten a custom tune for it, not that Justin@BB doesnt do good work, i know he does. but i can say that if you had done that, you wouldnt have noticed as large of a difference. everyone knows the canned tunes in the hand helds arent all that great or even good in some cases.

I have not had a different custom tune other than BB but I am sure they are comparable. I would be hesitant to say anyone can beat Justin's tunes for these trucks though.
