Default School me on Tahoe

I may be in the market for a newer Tahoe here pretty soon, and I've been out of the loop on them for awhile. I'll likely be buying used, and I'd like to stay below $40k and try to find something with low miles. 4wd is a must. Are there certain years that I should look for or stay away from? What are the major changes from year to year? Are the LTZ's really worth the extra price over the LT's? I saw the options on Chevy's website but couldn't believe the price difference when I started looking on craigslist.

You getting rid of the duramax? 09+ have the 6l80e's. Other than that, not much has changed. Personally Id look into an 07+ denali AWD, better interior, better exterior, 6.2 and 6l80e and can be found with low miles for mid/high20s pretty easy.

It's not really my choice, I still love the D-max. I'll explain the situation later in private. If I'm going to be replacing it though, I'm thinking an SUV is the way to go since we have 3 dogs and are planning on starting a family here in the next year or so. I was wondering about the Denalis, just figured that they would be out of my price range. I'd prefer the larger engine. I'll have to check those out too.

If they were reasonable then hell yeah. I just can't see spending $40-50k on a burb then another $20-30k on top of that for the conversion.

Why not buy a $20K burb then spend $20K on the conversion.

Around here, you could get a nice 03-06 Suburban 2500 for $7K, then do the conversion on that.

Well after responding to you I took a trip over to dieselplace and found the guy who does the conversions. I was off on the pricing. Sent him a PM for more info.

Would be a neat ride for sure.

There was a company out there that was building them with the rear steering setup as well.
