Yes a tune is super needed... My truck got slower when I added an intake and headers. And blackbear tune mine truck.. Trust me this 4.8 is a warrior.. Not the fastest. But do get some camaro's respect. I say go with long tubes and tune.

Like Iamkeniff said don't worry about it, I have a very good friend that works at the dealer that I bought my truck from and these were questions I had asked him, he said the manufacturer really doesn't get to involved unless there is some sort of catastrophic failure, like a motor or tranny, otherwise they could really care less about what is done to the vehicle.

What about for DOD tapping lifters? Would they check then since its a known issue?

Unless you had a cam in it I would tend to doubt it seeing as how it's a common problem with the DOD. I'm sure a more aggresive cam than stock would aggravate the problem, I guess too that it depends on the tech working on it aswell. Most probably would not volunteer that information to the manfacturer unless they had too. I'm a tech at a motorcycle shop and when I talk to the manufacturer about warranty issues I never volunteer that information to them. As far as i'm concerned they are on a need to know basis.

i love that you still have some Techs out there that will do that for a customer.

as long as there isnt: a cam, nitrous, supercharger, turbo on that motor...then i wouldnt worry about it honestly

As some of the others have mentioned, your tune won't be pulled for leaking seals or gaskets but make no mistake, if you drop a rod or burn up a trans GM requires a screen shot of your ECM from the tech2 and a tune won't go unnoticed. I am planning all the usual go-fast mods for my truck knowing that my employment at the dealership doesn't make me exempt from the warranty's limitations. Not trying to deter you but give you fair warning.
