they do have piston slap. to an extent it is normal, but should go away once it gets warm. id go in to the dealer, and ask for the area feild rep's # or call gm direct if they blew you off. calling gm will almost garontee you a new engine

okay man will do today its been a week and their excuse is that their heavy line department is backed up. Really one full week and the trucks been parked. so i will tlak to their supervisor but he will probably blow me off too. Should i get the field reps number, or just the dealer and service advisor. and i will look for GM's number but unsure as what department to talk to. any info will help. Thanks midnight

My 6.2 started knocking at about 10k miles.

Is there any sense going after them if a replacement is going to do the same thing.

Called up GM as you gusy suggested, in a matter of hours after the call they managed to tak apart both heads and find a faulty cam n springs. Amazing, what about the 4 cars in front of me. parts are on order and should have the truck back by next week. best of all warranty covers it n i wont need a retune. never once did ask about the converter, gears, stall, nor the tune. All thye said was adding the trans cooler was probably the greatest thing i've done since lately they been having issues with the 4L60's burning up. lol.

So I get my truck back tomorrow morning. They replaced the cam and a few lifters. They said cam was faulty and pitted. My questions is should I take it easy or can I just mash out. I miss my truck, it's been 3 weeks almost. If I have to take it easy for how long? Thanks

cam break in is usually done in the first 30 mins of run time. but just to be on the safe side id take it easy for at least 1000-1500 miles just because of how much of the engine has to be torn apart in order to change the cam and lifters, its literaly torn down to just the block crank, rods and pistons.
