Default Stepping down on my cam

Current cam is a bit big and since I do some decent towing I did not want to go any higher on my stall. I did have a 219/228 .550/.550 with 114, thing sounds like a race car but in a ext cab 4x4 with 32's and 3.42 its a PIG off the line and really doesnt pull that much better up top. I just ordered a custom grind 210/224 .556/.568 112 + 5 based off comps recommendation. Putting it into a older version of desktop dyno looks like it gives me some more torque but now I am starting to think I should of ordered the 206/212 cam......

i hate to say this, but buying a 5,000+ lb. pound truck with a 4.8 was your first mistake, Lol. I agree though that you will benefit from a different cam. I would recommend having someone like Patrick G spec a custom cam for your specific setup and what you intend to use it for. The 4.56's you mention in your sig will help alot though. I would recommend installing those, and then decide if you want to go through with changing the cam.

Why in the hell would comp spec a 14* split in a N/A 4.8?

Not sure But these are the grinds they recommend to me and after talking to several people there they said the smaller duration version with the lower LSA and 5 degrees of intake advance would be best.

HYDRAULIC ROLLER − Excellent
responsiveness and low end torque with
good power gains. 210 224 .556 .568 114°

Hydraulic Roller Camshafts (Small Displacement or Max Torque, 4.8L-5.3L)
HYDRAULIC ROLLER − Very strong torque
and excellent response. Works best in
heavy vehicles, low rpm applications. 215 233 .604 .610 112°

Ya definitely going to throw a turbo on it. I will be going rear mount and will most likely do it next year with a Comp oil less turbo.

Once I get the cam in I will go from there. I am actualy hoping the new cam will give me a better then stock bottem end and I can exchange gears for a hwy friendly 4.11. I did my cam and converter at the same time but I think mt stock cam with my current stall would of been leaps and bounds better than it is now. I looked at a TVs1900 for a whiles since it adds under the curve power but ice built 6 or so turbo cars with great results. New cam should be shipping soon. I'll keep it updated
