Suspension Lift vs Body Lift
So i'm still making decisions about lifting my 09 VMax....
Was originally gonna go with a 6" Pro Comp with 35/12.50/20's, but have been thinking more about a body lift...unfortunately i know little about them.....so a couple questions.
What size body lifts are available for these trucks? is it just 3" ?
How big of a body lift do you need to clear 35s ?
Is a 3" body lift on 35s nearly as tall as a 6" Suspension lift on 35s?? Or is there a substantial difference.
Lastly, How does a body lift compare in cost to a suspension lift? Cheaper?

body lift...its a cheap way out and you get what you pay for, basically it will drive the exact same as it does now with only a tire difference, same ride and everything. down side is in an accident Ive seen cabs come off of the frame because that 3" block is now giving momentum more leverage. it can get ugly. speaking of ugly, you will also need to atleast buy gap guards for your bed, also lift up your bumpers thats usually included in the kit, but then your tow hitch looks kind of stupid IMO.
suspensions are anywhere from easy to very involved to install, a spacer kit is pretty simple, but a full 6" on an IFS can be a little time consuming. it will ride different depending on what kit you ordered, and everyone has a different opinion on them. the dangers with suspension is knowing your installer, theres a lot of bolts that need to be torqued and sometimes people forget. also axle wrap if you get blocks in the back

Thanks for your opinions guys. Ultimately I do want a suspension lift but it's not in the budget right now. Do a lot of guys have a 3' body AND a 4' or 6' inch suspension lift on together? Would such a combo be too big for 35 a ? I don t wanna go any bigger then 35 for insurance reasons

not sure about the new body style but on the 99-06 you can put 315/75 (35's) on the stock wheels and crank the t bars some, with your truck you might need a small spacer. if you plan on any other wheel they wont fit b/c of the backspacing

the bodylifts available for our trucks are 3" 2" and now a 1.5" . with a 3" body lift and coil spacers (leveling kit) you could clear 35's (with the right wheel choice). IMO a suspension lift is a much better choice and a 6" suspension lift will get you about 2-3" more height than a 3" body lift. a body lift is just a cheaper way of attaining lift since all your doing is lifting the body off the frame. i like suspension lifts, but to each his own.
