Tailgate pricing and questions
I came home to the wife cooking and being abnormally nice. While I'm watching tv, she comes and tells me that she loves me very much and begins to tell me about her day... And how it started the morning off with her backing my truck into the neighbors mail box. Sigh. Anyway, it's on the big crease of the tailgate and I don't want any kind of bondo on the truck. So I'm looking for a tailgate even if I have to get it painted. What kind of pricing should I be looking for on a used tailgate? The dealer wants $800 for just a new gate! I found one from a Denali with a camera in the handle. I have an aftermarket back up camera now and would they work together if I got rid of my camera?

Wait......Let me absorb all of this... Your truck has a backup camera, and she backed into a mailbox?
She must be gorgeous, and make good sammiches.
Now, for the tailgate. I'd just let a good body shop fix it. If they do it right, they'll straighten out the metal, then it just needs a skim coat, and paint. Ask any body shop, almost every new sheetmetal panel gets a little ding during shipping, and they have to fix them too. Pretty good chance that your "NEW" tailgate will get a bit of repair work too.
