Default is there a thing as to much gear?

im running 411s with a 28 inch hoosier with 6l90.is it possible my first gear is to much? i read its like a 5 or 6 something first gear with the 411s.or is it more possibility that the iats were to high at 111-1115 and its pulling timing even at launch? just crazy think9ing out loud

If your tune is set to pull timing at the iat then yes. If it is "0" then no.

As for the "short" 1st gear isnt really going to be an issue if you are still cutting the same 60' within a .10
The lack of gear comes on the big end if you are shifting into 5th gear. Have your tune checked first imho.

your question doesnt make much sense to me....your gears have nothing to do with your computer pulling timing.

This statement tells you point blank it's not a "gear ratio/tire combo" issue.

I think your truck heat soaked or its tuned to pull a timing at a certain iat.

What type of intake system are you running?

Open box? Stock box?

My iats will climb sitting at the staging lanes, but once i get past the 60' it will start to cool off thanks to the "fresh" air vs under hood air

yeah im on the way to see my tuner to look at the tune to check at what iat it starts to pull timing.also i run a open filter,im thinking of putting a closed filter setup like volant and move the iat sensor to where the filter sits

well im watching vids on these denali truck running 13s and there in third shifting at 6k each gear with 342 gears,im running high 12s but im in 4th gear shifting at 6800 each gear,so if i put 342s in it i still think id be in 3rd but idk if itll kill my top end ?truck makes 450ish rwhp .im trippn on two things mph also the 60ft should be in the 1.6 s but at best 1.78 with a 3600 but with that much gear it wont let me its spins at 28-2900 so im really thinking out loud to all my issues i gotta figure it out confused a little

my truck shifts at 6500 on the 1-2, 6700 on the 2-3, 3-4. im at the top of 3rd or maybe low 4th when i cross the traps. (275/55/20s with 4:11s)

if you want to 60' you need a "looser" converter an by that i mean something that will "flash" looser. not something that is a tight 3600. you aren't getting your full brake stall of that 3600. that has nothing to do with your 4:11s.

the best 60' ive ever cut is a 1.76 with my 4spd/3600 PI converter. you should be cutting better 60's yes..but you have a TIGHT 3600.

as for adding 3:42s your truck wont 60' any better, it will actually slow down. on the 1/8th to 1/4 mph it will pick up im sure but your e..t will slow down anywhere from .2-.6 depending how the motor likes that strain. if it was a highway roller then i say hell yeah put the 3:42s back in there and let it eat

did you ever get the tune looked at to see what timing is being pulled at 100* to 130* IATs?

by the way, are the denalis cammed?
