Default Thoughts/ideas on adding a LED light bar

I've been researching adding a Rigid Industries 20" SR series LED light bar to the opening in the bumper of my 2011 GMC Sierra and wanted to get any thoughts/ideas any of you might have. The bumper opening is approximately 2" x 25". The light bar is 1 5/8" x 20 3/4", so it will fit. I've looked and there are 2 bolts on the bottom of the bumper that L-brackets could be attached to for mounting the light. I would like to flush mount the light with the bumper, but since it has a slight curve the light will probably have to be recessed slightly. Anyone see any problems mounting the light here or have any other suggestions for locating?

I've never seen anyone do it, but I first thought it would be a great place to put one a couple years ago. Do it and I'll be the first to congratulate!

I wouldn't cover that hole! it's for feeding fresh cool air to radiator and all your aux coolers. Thats why regular sierra's don't have them. Thats prolly also why the HD has a lasrger "coin slot" to help feed more air.

Funny how someone who is "handicapped", has not problem climbing into a giant truck.
Not a bad way to spend $70K

This is correct on what I was looking at doing. Thanks for clearing it up.

Do you know if they swapped over to the current style bumper with the slot because of cooling issues? It looks like the 2007 and 2008 trucks have no slot, and 2009 and up have it. If best left open I have no problem with that. Putting the light here wouldn't cut off the slot entirely, but would definitely block the flow.

Looked at doing something like this behind the grill. Maybe will explore further. Thanks.

I would imagine so. inside the slot is a soft liner directing the airflow straight to the radiator on mine. I'd put them in grille over filling that slot.
