Truck has begun squalling when started in the AM
#12
Truck was purchased new by me... it is coolant, took a sample into our chem lab at work. Looks like a water pump. Is that common on these trucks? Truck has 66000 miles, never been touched mechanically

Nope, mine went in about a day after i got it for a fender to be repainted (rail car damage, strap came loose and rubbed thru paint) and it also had a very small transmission leak, pan bolts were loose.
I recently thought i had a rear main leak, but after puting dye in the oil and running it it turned out to be a bad oil filter, it had started to seperate at the crimp near the base.. (carquest filter)
Other than that it runs great and asside from a squeaky belt and a squeaky door hinge the truck hasnt been touched..

Past two mornings it hasn't been doing it..
Apparently it knows i am going to tear into it if it doesn't start behaving..
I figure if i have to tear the water pump off, might as well do a cam swap..

These water pumps are usually more reliable than 60k but every now and then you get a turd seal or something. May still be covered under the powertrain waranty on an 07 though so if you can confirm a bad pump I'd give your dealer a shout.
