Trying to pick out a cam
My Truck is a 2008 x-cab 1500 5.3l. "It's a everyday city driver" What cam would you guys recommend me getting? I'm getting gears in the future and i'm about to install a yank3000. I want a choppy idle sound plus all around good top and bottom end speed. I've been looking at the tsp220 but i heard its not that choppy sounding. I'm tryin to figure out what specs to go with. Is the 224r too much for my truck? I'm on texas speed website and i see were you can custom select your specs and im not sure what i need to go with. I'm just wondering what you guys think. Thanks!
mods on truck so far- LT Headers, servos, tune, CAI.

So with the 3000 stall my best bet is get the tsp220? I can flash the converter to 3200 will that make a difference? So what would be the difference if i had either cam with a 3k stall or 3200. sorry i'm new with the cams..lol

Take a look at the power band in the description of the cam you are looking at and then look at a few others...that rpm range will tell you when the cam starts to make power........

oh ok. I'm just trying to get as much info before buying. lol People at thunder tell me to get the cheatr v.3 and some people tell me get the tsp220 over the 224r.
Powerbands:
tsp220- 1200-6200 RPM
tsp224r- 1400-6300 RPM
cheater v.3- Off Idle-6800 RPM
What do you think my best bet would be?

How bout the LSR cam? I brought it up before and some guys recommended I use it. Anyone running an LSR cam on their 5.3? Just wondering what results (if any) theyve gotten with it.
I had sent an email to comp cams for a recommendation on a cam for my truck.
5.3L, ext cab, 3.73 gears, 3k verter, .... ummm black, xm radio ...
They responded with part # 54-455-11 with specs:
215/223 604/610
Description says, "HYDRAULIC ROLLER-Very strong torque and excellent response. Works best in heavy vehicles, low rpm applications"
RPM Range 1300-6500 (looks like a pretty high RPM to me)
