there is some massive tuning involved. startup, idle, transition from drive to park, park to drive. take off and coming to a stop. not hard, just time consuming. so far this cam blows the ls9 out of the water. the power is there regardless of rpm, and has the same top end pull. very nice power band off idle to 6300 when it shifts. had to do some modding the tsp vvt tables at part throttle to get some mpg back out of it.

idc went from 78% to 85% at 6300. dyn cyl air is at .93-.95, timing remained the same at a 27 degree peak. {e85}

aside from the idle, driving it is like driving a stock cammed truck. i am also on a stock stall.

down side is the cost. the cost of the cam is more than the average vvt cam, i narfed my stock cam phaser because i was stupid with it and the reluctor popped off, and the phaser limiter. the only cost effective part was the ls9 springs that i already had in there.

cam lube, oil, coolant, gaskets and stuff i already had laying around.

479.99

plus the cost of the limiter kit. and the ls9 springs were less than 100 bucks.

I like that... but I don't tune, and it sounds like a bit of a complicated mess to have somebody else sort out

did you ever get the LS9 cam to the track?

from the sounds of it,to get a really good tune for a vvt1 or vvt2 or any performance cam, it will be almost impossible for the average joe to get a really accurate tune,what say you A47?

it's really not that hard to get it to do what you want. im a perfectionist. so that alone doesn't help anything. im constantly tweaking and tuning on misc crap here and there. that is where the majority of it comes from. to get it to idle and move it took me three flashes. after that it's just me nit picking things.

gonzo. nope. they shut down the local track, plus im tired of shitting driveshafts
