v6 to v8 swap
so i know this has been beaten to death with the previous models, but i cant seem to find any info on any NBS v8 swaps...so can anybody enlighten me with what is needed for this swap?

I would say for the majority since our model has only been out since last year no one has done this. If everyone basically just bought their truck they just got it with V8 in the first place. Why didn't you just buy it with a V8 ?

well the v8 package was a couple thousand more than this one. we paid the full price which came out to about 16.7 or so. atleast we dont have payments! the 5.3 was almost 20 g's. plus my parents dont care much for v8s and i knew that if i pushed for one i'd still be truckless at this point.

Start saving for the day when you can trade up to a V8 truck. It would be cheaper then trying to do the swap, and far less headaches.
You can still lower it, get some cool rims, load exhaust, K+N kit, 4.11 gears, and they do quite well for 90% of what even I do.
I am starting my own electrical shop, and a 4.3 would still have power to spare for all but my most extreme junk. As slow as it maybe it still works.
A guy I worked with bought a 08 with the 4.3 becouse all he cared about was price, and I thought it drove fine. He does plenty of side work and raves about the power it has for when he hauls junk around.
Guys even boost these motors, and they are pretty capable when properly done. Look up the old syclone/typhoon as they ran the 4.3 with 6-8 psi turbo, and could run low 13's or high 12's.

Ya it would be a slight pain, and your parents will also not like you tearing into a new truck. I know cause when I had my first truck, parents always shot down my plans. lol

lol yea ur right...hopefully they wont notice. im hoping the stock exhaust will help keep it down a little bit . ill definitely put a cutout for when i want to be heard

You need a complete motor, complete front harness, V8 tarnsmission.
These new trucks use different harness's for the
4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2.
Don't forget E-85 and cylinder de-activation.
WT to LTZ
The one good thing is GMC uses a seperate chassis harness so it maybe a plug and play or about as close to being that way if you get the complete motor,trans, harness combo.
A kit such as decribed above for a basic 4.8 or 5.3 can easily run you north of $3000.
Where as a stage 3 universal kit from STS is $2995. Add in the things you will need like a tune, odds and ends, plus headers, and you'll still could be less $4000 if you work hard and look around.
I hear from the boards you can 8 psi before your fuel system runs out of steam, but a few guys say a marine intake can work or some sort of edelbrock conversion.
Either way 8 psi with headers, and a good tune you could get about 400 horse maybe a bit more. So when you get the upgraded intake the 4.3 shares so much with the 350 that parts will fall in your lap like Mana from the heavens. Then you could get about 550 on pump gas with the right build. If you live in E-85 territory maybe 650 since its so much like race gas.
Check out the old GMC syclones they could run low 12's high 13's with minor tuning. Add some 4.11's and 275/60/17's with a 250 treadware, and you'd be close.

Yes it does, but I do know that the LS motors are quite different the the SBC 350 on which your motor is based.
So I don't know if you could just use a 5.3 flex plate and torque converter. Or somehow the input shaft is different to compensate for the 400ths of an inch difference in flange depths.
