I ordered a leveling kit and a magnaflow muffler today - I am going to call Black Bear tomorrow and talk to them about a tune. I emailed them the other day and haven't heard anything back yet

I just purchased a 2007 Crew Cab 4x4 6.0 Max LTZ with 25K miles on it in GREAT shape and have a few questions:
1) As I was looking under the hood today I noticed that on the drivers side there is a flat tray - looks like there was a battery there at one time. Was this stock from the factory? Should there be another battery?

2) I took my brother for a ride today and decided to really get on it for the first time so I took the traction control off. When I hammered it the truck barely spun the tires (maybe 2 or 3 times over) and didn't really get after it like I expected. I had a 07 Classic with the 5.3 in it and I think it had atleast the same get up an go. Whats up with that?

3) When I scan thru the driver controls it says instant fuel economy V8 mode - I am pretty sure this truck did not come with the fuel management system - why does it say V8 mode then?

4) What is the best PCM tune for me? I pull a 6500lb camper about 100 miles each way once every other month and the rest of the time if just going back and forth across town to work - I know - What a life!

5) I would like to know anything you can tell me about the truck as it was purchased from a Ford dealership who knew NOTHING about Chevys.
I will try to post some pics later this week - it is a pretty sweet looking truck!
1) its an extra battery tray as was stated

2) there is a ton of torque management, a tune will fix that

3) your truck has AFM which switches from V4 to V8 mode

4) EFI Live is a great tuning platform

5) like what?

3) I have AFM and it still only gets 14.5-15 on the highway? I will watch for V4 mode when I hit the road next time - probably later next week. Any other way to tell?

5) I am not sure what trans - I assume 4L80E

if i had 500 horses i wouldnt need to change the gear but i think it will wake this thing up
i agree first gear would be short but i think it would wake this thing up best without having to change anything else..

this is with the 3.42s at the stock shift point (i know there will be a little loss in the converter....)
...... 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
5500 38 66 102 133 180 228
this is with 3.42s at raised shift point
...... 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
6000 42 72 111 145 196 249

this is with a raised shift point and 4.10s
...... 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
6000 35 60 93 121 163 207

your trans is a 4L70

as for the 4 cylinder mode you can usually hear the truck make the switch, but the easiest way is just to watch the DIC when it changes from V8 to V4. your gearing and speed also make a big difference in your gas mileage

So here is where I am at on this truck. I ordered the Magnaflow muffler and then my exhaust guy told me that it would sound like crap in V4 mode - so I am staying with factory exhaust. The leveling kit came in and it turns out the truck already had a 1.5" kit on it . Tires are still rubbing if you turn the wheel all the way. What can I do now? I don't want to put a large lift on the truck. Black Bear contacted me and I think I am going with the cable tune that is $300 - sounded like a pretty sweet deal. I also ordered some step rails and put them on last night and they look good! I will post before and after pics next week.

what size tires are you running right now, and on what rim???
we run a 20*8 with a 275/60r20 and we had no rub at all with a 2" leveling kit..
now we are running a 3"spacer/2"rear block and it looks awesome..

I have 285/60/r20 and it only rubs on occasions. It will rub when I am backing down my driveway and turn the wheel all the way. I just called the company and they have a lower arm kit that will raise the front another inch and then put 2" blocks on the rear to raise it an inch so it is level. Sweet looking kit in your link - I wish I would have ordered it to begin with.
