Default What is best exhaust set up for VMAX

Well my factory ordered VMax finally showed up. Now it's exhaust time! Looking for advice and opinions on which muffler and set up.Does true dual offer a big gain? What size pipes? Do headers give the 6 liter a big boost? I like the sound of Magnaflow but am open to suggestion. Thanks!

american racing headers and a 3 inch cut out. no muffler! It is the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard. I have a grin on my face ever where i go. the cut out is $45 and to have it welded is like $20. for $65 it is better than any muffler ever could be and is the least restrictive. Headers can be pricy, is yours a 2wd or 4wd?

depends on your budget, tolerance for sound volume, and future plans for the truck.
your can start with a simple muffler change, a muffler shop cat-back,
or nice stainless cat-back, with single or dual tail pipes, Magnaflow and Corsa are popular, then add stainless long tube headers and carts to it all. ARH or Dynatech. If you are 2wd you can go with the Pacesetters, they are well priced but not stainless.
cost from $150-200 to $2k for the full meal deal. if you go with headers, you need a tuner to atleast turn off codes and then opitmize tune for headers

Like "Allgonoshow" said, it really depends on budget. The 6.0L are known for drone, so research your options carefully. Personnally, I went with the Corsa Touring exhaust because I didn't want the drone and the truck sounding like a stockcar. The Corsa exhaust is pretty mellow at idle, but gets roudy when WOT. Last week, I ordered a set of ARH headers and am anxious to get them here and installed...

Magnaflow single cat-back on mine. It's just louder than stock, sounds good at WOT and doesn't become obnoxious on the highway. I won't be doing headers or anything else, just couldn't stand the stock setup.

Mine is a 4wd. As far as budget goes i just want the best bang for my buck. Looking for a set up that is practical, offers performance gains, and doesn t destroy the bank account. Yes I want high quality stuff for my truck but it is my work vehicle and will get beat up off road. ..Change anyone a opinion about the best set up for me ?

Future plans? 6 inch lift with 35s.

I have the 3 1/2" inlet/ Dual 3" Outlet Magnaflow (I think it's the larger 22" maybe) and it sounds really good behind my 6.2. Got a nice rumble to it at part-throttle and really opens up under WOT. I recommend a good Magnaflow and have a muffler shop run the tailpipes. I also went with some rolled edge angle cut Magnaflow tips too.
