What to do????
Hello everyone i have a 08 GMC with the LY5 5.3L and looking for some performance. I have the look of the truck were i like it, so my next challenge is horsepower but dont know where to start. The engine is bone stock right now and i know once i start the bug will bite me and bite me hard. So from mild to wild what can be done to the LY5 engine. Not worried about price as long as the performance gains are good. Just so you know this is a daily driver so weekend projects is what would work best for me. Thanks alot guys i know im in the right place for advice.......

Im really thinking of a supercharger like the Magnacharger. But i think the wise thing to do is start with the small parts and work myself to the charger.
So im thinking homemade intake, bigger TB, headers and exhaust this should help it breath better. Mainly do all the bolt-ons before going in the engine, trans and rearend.

GWEE, Some bolt-ons might be wasted money if you're going to add a turbo or supercharger later. One thing that got me thinking that was the following response I got from Whipple's tech support guy when I asked about how necessary headers are to get the full potential of their supercharger:
"You will not get the gains you think you would by adding long tubes. If the motor was built and you were going to run high HP, then you would look into doing the LT's. I would just add a cat back for sound only. Gains will not be that much."
So I got a tune for now, and might decide to save up for a blower before spending thousands on other stuff.
Just another two cents ....
