"You will not get the gains you think you would by adding long tubes. If the motor was built and you were going to run high HP, then you would look into doing the LT's. I would just add a cat back for sound only. Gains will not be that much."

So I got a tune for now, and might decide to save up for a blower before spending thousands on other stuff.

Just another two cents ....
Thanks alot food for thought

I have an 08 RCSB 2wd with the 5.3 and it's also my DD. I've currently got a drop in K&N, modified stock box, Airraid tube, LS7 tb, UDP,160 thermostat, 3.73's, tranny servos, OBX long tubes and a flowmaster dumped under the bed. It's tuned and runs considerably better than stock and still gets decent mpg. Thes 5.3's are durable motors. I'm looking at TVS blowers now. Your right about the bug.lol

Not worried about price as long as the performance gains are good. Just so you know this is a daily driver so weekend projects is what would work best for me. So im thinking homemade intake, bigger TB, headers and exhaust this should help it breath better. Mainly do all the bolt-ons before going in the engine, trans and rearend.
If money isn't an issue and you want the best performance for your money go FI. Turbo or supercharger is your decision but that will yield you the most power if you are willing to spend the money on it.

Alright...with that statement, I'm sure the whole "money isn't an issue" thing will go out the window. If it's not an issue, trailer the truck to a big *** shop and have them do a complete build on it. But I'm going to cut to the chase, do a cam/converter/gears/lt's/exhaust/tune. That will be cheaper than a FI in some cases, unless you choose to search up on the classified on here and find a used charger. Since it's a DD that you don't really play with, if you want a little more juice, do some spray. There you go. There are also plenty of threads full of information concerning "What should I do next?" or "What to do to muh 5.3." Best of luck.

Thanks for all the comments and the help guys. My budget will be around the 10K mark. That is for the whole drive train not just engine. Whatever the stock shortblock can handle is the most I want to do to the engine. So cam, heads and intake I will through on the pot of parts to get.
