Default What will it take?

My 08 Sierra CC 5.3- what would it take to beat the f150 ecoboost? My brother has one. It's pretty fast. Just seeing what you guys would recommend me doing to the 5.3- cai just installed thinking of tune next but just trying to get some opinions from gm gear heads, because by all means I'm not that!

I want to assume you already raced and lost?

A nice tune can surely wake your truck up thats for sure, enough to beat him, I have no idea as I myself have never raced one nor know how quick it is.

Yeah we raced multiple times. For fun, but he gets me every time. By a long shot, them ecoboost get up for sure.

sooo your username is a touch premature

gears would really help you off the line, a custom tune as mentioned is the next best bang for buck. retry after that!

A stall and a tune will get you very close. Two best bang for your buck mods on earth.

I did mine tune first and was quite pleased, then I did gears and I was really happy, then stall....it was a totally different truck. but you'll go even more, so those are like the "gateway mods" haha

My 07 NNBS with tune, Airaid Jr. kit, longtubes, 4.11 gears and stock tire size. will match the speed of my buddies ecoboost in the 1/4 mile, but the low end torque of the ecoboost and the low first gear makes him pull hard off the line, (If I had a 6 speed it would be even) With a stall and a tune to match it would be dead even I think. Then a cam on top of that would be able to beat him with ease.

Stall, headers, and a good custom tune and you'll wax his ***.

What gears does your truck have now?

Lol, yes username is def premature. But not for long, tuner will be my next mod, thinking of diablew tuning. Looks like a stall after possibly. I have stock gears, but this is for bragging rights and now a couple of buddies are throwing jabs at me like "oh I'm installing a 5.3 in my truck, need to slow my beast down" lol they are just adding fuel to the fire and now I'm ready to spend money

I have researched ecoboosts for my opinion little project. It will really come down to how you are wanting to beat him. From what I have seen stock ecoboost's can run anywhere from 14.4 up to 15.2's bone stock. Modded they can go into the 12's depending on how much they are modded. Normal bolt-on ones seem to be in the 13's. Thats what you need to know for racing from a dig.

From a roll ecoboosts tend to trap anywhere from 88-94 stock and modded all they way up too 112-115. From what I have seen normal boltons they run 99-106. That will help you if your roll racing.

The guys that have CC will be more helpful telling you how too achieve theses 1/4 times or mph times!! Ulimately it would come down to how much money you wanted to spend. Remember this............think of the future! Because the ecoboost is turboed his mods will probably net him more gains vs you doing NA mods.
