What Year and Model GMT 900s are best
I am looking at buying a 2010 or newer gmt900 truck to replace my current diesel truck.
I want a single cab, short bed 4x4 v8 truck. My understanding is that you can get either the 4.8 or the 5.3 engine. From what I have read the 4.8 trucks get the 4l60e trans and the 5.3 will get a 6l60.
I do not know any differences in transfer cases but I have seen two different types in two 5.3 trucks.
I looked at a 2012 Sierra w/t 4x4. It was a 5.3 and had a floor shifted transfer case.
I also looked at a 2013 Silverado lt. It also had a 5.3 but had a electronic transfer case switch on the dash.
My main question is what truck will have the strongest drive-train from the start. I will plan on doing a 6.2 swap, and I want to have the best drivetrain available in the single cab 1500 truck. I have been racing for several years so I have a decent understanding of late model gm parts, just not really familiar with the gmt900
Thanks for any help!

In a single cab short bed, you have three choices. 4.3/4 speed, 4.8/4 speed, or 5.3/6 speed. The best combo, obviously, being the latter. The 4.8 and the 5.3 are somewhat close in power, but the 5.3 has the better and stronger 6 speed.
