Where to tap mech oil pressure gauge?

Default Where to tap mech oil pressure gauge?

Ive got a 2011 (worktruck)5.3 ls rcsb
Only came w the 4 gauge cluster
I'm wanting to add a oil press gauge
Where did everyone tap into to do so


Or should I go electric gauge : (
And where did u all splice that into either.

Behind the intake manifold, at the top of the block. Similar location to the old-school Chevy small blocks.

No it's easy to get to. Remove the engine cover plate, then crawl up there with a light and look back there. If you want to make it even easier, you COULD remove the intake manifold(which only takes 15-20 minutes), but you don't have to.

Or just drill/tap the oil cooler block off above the oil filter, put your line or sending unit there.

That would work too, I just believe it's better to measure the oil pressure at the top of the engine, away from the oil pump. If you spin a cam bearing, or run too low on oil, and your measuring oil pressure below that point, you won't know you have a problem until you hear it. Then it's too late.

Autometer makes an adapter to go from the m16 threads on the block to 1/8" for most gauge senders.
