I just would expect a radix or whipple kit on a 6.2 crew 4x4,no other mods should run as well or out run the old 6.0

I assume these trucks are close on weight.with the advantage of the 6.2 6sp auto trans and bigger charger I feel they should perform .5 better in the 1/4 w/FI than they do
Bring your truck to me. You've already got headers, We'll do a TVS2300, maybe a pulley, and a tune. Low 12's no problem, maybe quicker...

I need to toss in a LS9 cam first, just to make sure.

Your pretty spot on with your assumption, I ran my truck at the track this past sunday. With the mods in my sig and dare I say a canned tune(only because hptuners hasn't figured out my pcm yet) I was able to run 3-4 consecutive passes in 2wd averaging a 14.36 @ 96 mph with a 2.15 60'. As the day went on the track starting going away and there was no traction at all so I decided to run it 4wd just for the hell of it, It ended up running a 14.2 @95 mph with a 2.09 60'.This was back to back before the track closed but even getting my et's and 60' lower you can see how much the 4wd actually sucks up power with a 1 mph loss.

Just curious - did you shift out of 4wd after you launched, or leave it in 4 for the whole run? I've been shifting out of 4 just after the 1-2 shift, and it seems a little quicker that way.

I haven't done but only one 2wd launch because I'm too damn cheap to burn up perfectly good, expensive tires. I'd rather save the money toward headers and an intake tube so Gonzo doesn't walk away from me so bad next time.

I left it in 4wd for the whole pass. I was a little uneasy about shifting it in 2wd at wot.

I always figured that being in 4wd would slow you down

I know what you mean, and I wondered about how to deal with that before I raced. But I finally saw a couple posts here from guys who were routinely shifting out of 4wd after they'd launch, and didn't think twice about it. I think the shift is basically disengaging something, and not actually moving any gears (comments from somebody who knows are welcome!).

It's sure uneventful when I've done it, there's nothing I could feel when it disengages and the truck definitely feels a little smoother at the fast end of the track.

Several of the guys here have mentioned that if I would spend the time (and tire life) to practice a good 2wd launch I would be faster, but I'm too cheap. If I ever got serious about racing it I'd get a separate set of tires to burn up, but that's not what I bought this truck for. When I win the lottery I'll get another silver Silverado with a 6.2 that's 2wd and doesn't have all the heavy options and crap that I've bolted onto this one.

Guess I better go buy a lottery ticket.

Let me tell you how hard it is to shift out of 4x4 while holding a nitrous button.... lol
