who thinks magna and whipple is the ticket?

5.3 might be a good choice for a blower.
I think the cost/benefit ratio for the 6.2 is out of wack.
We are seeing bolt on and cam trucks near 400 rwhp.
Granted a TVS/Whipple 6.2 will more power under the curve, which makes a better
daily driver, but there is a big cost difference.
The other issue is tranny life, there are only a few blower 6.2 trucks on here and we don't know how hard/often they beat them.
I had an 04 5.3 radix and the tranny lasted a week of joy rides.
The new 6 speed may be way better, don't know.
Not to say the blower trucks are not awesome, just depends on your pockets too.

I have a list of plans for the truck in the future including dropping the truck off at circle d, but I am not 100% sure I am going to keep it long enough to put more money in it. The whippled Raptor option is speaking to me some. To really make the Denali what I want would include new brakes, gears, trans build and convertor, WCCH's, and a custom cam. All of that is a fair sum and with my preference to buy once cry once it would equal about 1/2 the current value of the truck. So maybe just a whippled Raptor and go back to a car as a daily.
I have noticed a few times that the trans will slip a little during shifts on a hot day, but I just watch my temps and take it easy when needed.

I don't get to drive my truck too often anymore, but it gets a daily beating when it's out in the open.

The Denali and the Raptor would serve two different things. I believe it would take A LOT to get the Raptor to be as quick as the Denali is now but I wouldn't be looking for it to be as quick. Just a fun truck to drive and play around in with a bit more ***** than the stock 6.2L ford engine offers.

I know what you mean, and I wondered about how to deal with that before I raced. But I finally saw a couple posts here from guys who were routinely shifting out of 4wd after they'd launch, and didn't think twice about it. I think the shift is basically disengaging something, and not actually moving any gears (comments from somebody who knows are welcome!).
It's sure uneventful when I've done it, there's nothing I could feel when it disengages and the truck definitely feels a little smoother at the fast end of the track.

Several of the guys here have mentioned that if I would spend the time (and tire life) to practice a good 2wd launch I would be faster, but I'm too cheap. If I ever got serious about racing it I'd get a separate set of tires to burn up, but that's not what I bought this truck for. When I win the lottery I'll get another silver Silverado with a 6.2 that's 2wd and doesn't have all the heavy options and crap that I've bolted onto this one.
Guess I better go buy a lottery ticket.

Hopefully I can pick up a set of slicks and will start playing in 2wd and seeing what that does for me.
+1 to a good tune for the 6.2. I just had a wideband installed and had my truck re-tuned and the thing runs amazing. Can't wait to get it to the track again.

Thanks for the validation on that, and I'll be watching for your results with the slicks!
