Hog, I agree. Like I said in my post above I drove a 2014 5.3 2wd loaner for 10 days while my 2011 6.2 was being repaired and it is so much improved it does not feel like the same 6L80E tranny that is in my truck. The torque management is night and day difference like it is not even there. Of course the 2014 6.2's are not available on lots yet so I cannot say 100% for sure it will drive like the 5.3 but I assume it will.

Default 6.2 heavy half ton

I tried to build a "heavy half ton" with the trailer towing package on the Chevy and GMC websites but as soon as I clicked on the trailer towing package the engine reverted to the 5.3. I surmise that the 6.2 (with 11.5:1 compression) cannot control the detonation involved in pulling heavier trailers up mountains so it is simply not offered for that purpose. Likewise, when GM announced preliminary specs on the 2015 HD models they said the engine choices were unchanged from 2013 and 14, Duramax and 6.0.

As a side note this morning a sales guy at my local GMC dealer told me that the 2015 HD duramax would not use DEF; I'll believe that when I see it!

I'm thinking' we won't know the whole story on all the options, packages, what's-available-with-what, and what's-NOT-available-with-what until maybe January. I'm not going to make any final decisions until at least then, and maybe a test drive or two.

If somebody wants to volunteer to buy one with a 6.2 and beat the **** out of it before that, I'd sure love to hear the story!

Man, I can NOT find that trailer towing package on the Silverado "Build Your Own" page. Where did you see it?

I'm gonna guess that LANCE ATKINSON will do just that! Ha probably not beat it to death but do what we do which is haul pretty heavy parts through Virginia hills. So the results should be pretty good! Can't wait...

I read today on one of the reviews of the 6.2 that it was NOT flex fuel (e-85 capable) like the 4.3 & 5.3. Thought you guys would find that interesting.

Also seems that everyone is liking the way that the 6 speed in the 2014s shift unlike the shifting from the same tranny in earlier trucks.

all the literature regarding the 6.2 trucks say they come with the 3.73s, I don't think the website is all together just yet.
