Ive seen both sides of this, some disable lock up 1 thru 3 or 4 and others leave factory lock up settings alone.
Why is this? Should this be disabled or leaving it alone is fine?

The slip rpm will shows a wide range of values while not in lockup but when it is locked it should have very minimal slip rpm. If AFM/DoD is active, it will show more converter slip as well.
I turn it off for gears 1-4. Then I raise the mph speed that the converter can lock in 5th and 6th. I raise them up to something around 40-45mph for 5th gear and nearly 50mph for 6th gear. I've also on my truck increased the Apply ramp for the converter and increased the regulator gain and regulator offset. The apply ramp change is very small and I forget exactly but I think I went with .500 on the gain and 45-50psi on the offset. Increasing these tables can help if the converter is showing a little more slip than you want and to try and help it from ever starting to slip.

When I put a rebuilt 6L in with billet converters I'll keep the lockup in 2-6th gears but tune it so it never slips. Also tuning one with a manual pressure gauge works wonders..
I've found best fuel mileage locking them in 2nd thru 6th and keep the rpms low at light throttle.

So I increased my timing in the midrange and now I believe my throttle will not open fully like a lag when I try to kick down. It doesn't do it when I accelerate only when kicking down to a lower gear total flat spot. Torque tables? I'm no tuner just integrated timing from my tuner and Whipple tune. He would fix it but haven't had time to visit.

I would say Torque tables are limiting you. I can't just raise them though. You need to log it and Figure out the area's you are hitting a limit. Then raise that area and smooth it out.
