Default Oil change intervals?

I think the factory interval is 6000 with Mix conventional synthetic.
Now that I'm doing my own changes with mobile one full synthetic and a k&N filter, I was thinking 8-10k miles between changes.

What do you think?

I wouldnt.

But if you really want to know if you can or not, hit up blackstone labs and get a free test kit. Send the sample of your oil in and see what they say, they will tell you if your oil still has life left in it at say 5,000 miles.

That still doesnt tell you if the oil can still do it's job correctly, only reason I say you need to test an oil sample.

So I ordered a sample kit, and went ahead and changed my oil today at about 7k miles.

But something strange with the new filter.for some reason k&n specs different filters for Silverados vs Sierras....

Last oil Change I looked up the filter for a Silverado in the book. Today I looked up Sierra instead. Should be the same but when I got home I had this...

From my last oil change on the left the one I bought today on the right. What the hell? Didn't have time to go back to the store today so I went ahead and put the new smaller filter on.

the HP-2011 is the one I've been using, I've seen the other one, it's a little less capacity but otherwise identical.

I have always run Mobil 1 full syn and have always run it 7,000-10,000 miles with filter change/top offs mixed in there along the way. I've had analysis done before and never had a bad report. All of that data was from my 2001 and 2008 trucks though... that being said, I don't expect much to change with the new one and will most likely continue the same trend.

I'm running the M1 0/20 Dexos full syn in my 2014 also... truck is just over 32,000 miles

I did an oil analysis the last time I had my oil changed, and Blackstone labs said I could easily extend my oil interval to 8000 miles. I had 6300 on that oil change.

If you use a good filter, and a good oil. Why not.
