Can you guys start your trucks with your phone?

how does the factory remote start work? how many feet? does it keep the hvac settings how you had them? Meaning the truck is running with the keys in it and full defrost. the next morining you fire it up and get in - is it on full defrost again or the auto setting?

 

I start mine with my phone anywhere. The settings stay the same as far as ac or heat goes. The butt Warner's wont kick on unless you press the button-same with the rear defrost

 

You can only start your truck remotely If it came with remote start. It can be added if you have the RPO code for remote start ready. AP8 I think.

If you have remote start you can start it from anywhere with your phone, as long as the keys are not in the ignition. HVAC will switch to auto setting.

 

phone works, great! What package do you have to do this or is it with any truck that comes with remote starters. There was a sync package offered but I wasnt sure if that was just for pushing data to your truck from your phone, like music and nav.

we have to different answers on how the heat / ac controls are after remote start.

 

In order for phone to work you have to have MYLINK. You can get it with or without remote start.

The HVAC will resort to the last temp setting and do what it needs to to obtain it.

 

Fwiw phone or remote mine runs defrosters on high if it's cold.

So to remote start my Denali by phone , I need to download an app called mylink ? Or is this add on hardware to my factory remote start ?

 

No the truck has mylink. Down load OnStar Remote link.

 

Oh gotta do it thru onstar ? So you have to have an active account ?

Oh and OP , my truck will start at least 100' from where I'm at ,
Remote start HVAC settings are different from when key is inserted ,
When cold outside , remote start turns on my heat and heated seats .
When hot out the A/C kicks on as well as my cooled seat.
When I enter the truck and put my key in ignition it defaults to what're it was set at when it was last used .

Yeah I forgot to mention the phone app is for 2013 and up.
