What's wrong with the plug wires? We have seen hundreds of these trucks and not a single plug wire issue.

a question:

you spoke to a rep, or someone from the dealer? a rep works for gm, not the dealer.

a few points:

plug wires are not considered an electrical issue

if you put on/had put on headers, and the plug wires were knocked off, its not warranty

I know a couple of people who had to have them replaced due to separating, and a few techs who say they slip off the coil or werent installed properly at the factory. I developed a misfire around 20k miles, one of mine had not been connected properly.

so it worked right for 20k miles then all of a sudden wasn't connected properly? sounds like bs to me...

It's not bs, there is a recall on some of the 14 trucks, suvs and vettes about the plug wires coming off.

Basically. When built they didn't get them to seat all the way.

yeah. see that all the time. wires connected but not snapped, eventually through vibration, heat cycles etc they back off and cause an issue.

not just plug wires, but regular electrical connectors too. just fixed one on thursday for a 2014 that the parking sensors stopped working.

There is no Recall for a plug wire issue, I searched on my GM site for this concern and found PIP5159 it states:

#PIP5159: Engine Misfire May Be Due To Loose Spark Plug Wires - (Oct 21, 2013)
Subject: Engine Misfire May Be Due To Loose Spark Plug Wires

Models: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette
2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2014 GMC Sierra 1500
Built with engines 4.3L 5.3L 6.2L RPOs L83 L86 LT1 LV3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern
SES lamp on, DTC P0300 - P0308 may set. Upon inspection, a loose sparkplug wire may be found.

Recommendation/Instructions
If a loose sparkplug wire is found, reconnect it.

If the sparkplug wire does not snap on, the sparkplug wire will need to be replaced.

Use Published Labor Operation Time


Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed
