So now the real question is, since the Fel-Pro's are basically the same price as Cometics. Which would be the better choice?

I know and thats why I don't know who to go with. Cometics used to be considered the best gasket known to man, but lately theres been "cometics are leaking" threads. Now granted this will be going on a 05' (1500 miles) block along with brand new Patriots, so there should be no problem with flat surfaces...
I haven't been able to find many people using the MLS Fel-pro gaskets yet.

Well in light of some new info; https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=504665
It looks like I will be going with the Cometics after all.
Thanks for the help guys.

Even though Cometic doesn't recommend it, invest in some copper gasket spray. It seems to be what everyone uses to help them seal better. I wish I had known that before trying to use them. I'd also recommend ARP head bolts. Much eaiser to torque them than trying to stretch stock bolts to the correct degree.

Now I just have to find someone who has the gaskets in stock for a decent price. SDPC only had 1 left when I just called them and Texas wants like $20 to ship.

Well I ended up calling Texas after all since nobody else had any in stock. Turnes out shipping was less than what their website listed, it only was about $15 to ship. But they had them and are on their way.
Hey tdrumm, can you pickup that copper spray anywhere or is it a special kind?
