JimS- I am just trying to figure out how you are getting 15lb boost on a 224/230 camd 5.3 with 225 heads with a Radix

Defective gauge? I don't know. I'm not very knowledgeable. I just know what I have in the truck and what the gauge says and the highest reading I've had is 15lbs boost.. with the 2.8" pulley.

Now you got me wondering what's up. Is that number way out of line with the equipment I'm running?

Good luck brother and I look forward to your build!
Looking at your sig: Do you have any dyno or guesstamate hp/torque numbers with your current set up? Do you think my guesstamate hp numbers are in the ball-park? Only asking to get a better idea of whether I really want to change things.

The biggest part of my desire for more is that I'm just bored with having the way it is and want a change.

One change that needs to be done is the rear end so it there a different housing I need to consider? What should I go to? What's stronger and a relatively easy change. I'd druther not tub it.

After reading what you are looking for..And looking at your current mods in your sig, this is my recomendation to quench your power thirst and use what you already have..Buy a forged 370 ci short block (which will work good with your current heads) and then slap a TVS2300 kit on there and turn up the boost. Just in case that is not enough power install a 100 shot of N2O on a progressive controller (for traction) and let her rip

You alrerady have a 4l80e and nice heads...Last I would get a PatG speced cam and change back to 3.90/4.10 gears and maybe a tighter 2600 convereter..because the power will be instant (which you like)...All that should get you (without the 100 shot) 150-200 more HP than you make now

I am all about "stoplight to stoplight" as well..I could care less about going 100+ mph

The same thoughts had been running through my head.... wondering if my heads would work and thinking they would, and thinking what you hae said sounded do-able and at a reasonable price. I might even be able to get something out of my current engine with the stock heads and the Radix 112.

What's your opinion on price. Can I get a forged 370 and a TVS2300 and a 100 shot for the ball park price of $10k to $12k?

Now.. there's a C5 in the Feb issue of GMHTP that has a LQ9 bored and stroked to 427. Would my heads still work?

I don't know who PatG is.

You can swap in a 14 bolt out of a VortechMax, VHO, or later SilvySS...it's basically a direct swap. They have drum brakes I believe, but you can swap your disc stuff over, may have to modify or replace the backing plates. If you go to the GM Drivetrain and Suspension section and search "14 bolt" or "14 bolt swap", you should find a write up or two that guys have put together.

You can get a quality 370 short block for around $3200 and the tvs2300 kits are around $5-6000 ? , But you could get money out of your old stuff..guessing $4000...
check this one out 415 ci http://www.schwankeshortblocks.com/s...?i=1497&c=1086

I dont like sleeved blocks for street applications, so my vote would be no on a 427ci out of a lq9...alot of better choices..for your heads a 4" to 4.060 would be ideal imo..Actually alot of current high hp record breakers are using a 3.90 stroke crankshaft

Google "EPS cams" for Patrick Guerrero..he is also on ls1tech
