Default 110 lsa too tight?

Is a 110 lsa too tight for a 5.3? The reason I ask, I saw a dyno of a 224/224 xxx/xxx on a 110 +4 and the graph dropped of at like ~6200 rpm. Seems like it would be ideal for someone not wanting to turn a lot of rpm and still benefit from the higher duration.

i wouldnt necessarily say its TOO tight depending on your stall and other mods, its gonna shrink your power band down pretty good though. i would compare that dyno with another one of 112 or 114 and check the area under curve. though the power will be greater, you are going to start making it later in the RPM's but your peak torque will also come earlier. a 224 on a 110 IMO will be understalled with your tt2600. in case you havent seen this before....

Also the +4 advance will move things down the rpm range. Good chart btw.

yup, turbo berzerker sent that to me when i was deciding between 112 and 114 and i have found it helps alot of people to know what they are getting when the widen/tighten LSA

The only reason to stay away from lower lsa's is if your worried about p/v or dirivability. Kano and I were talking about this a couple days ago. I recently posted a graph of a torque monster that made hp out to 6600 on a 110+4 lsa in a 402 and the cam was 220/224. Holding the HP out there has more to do with the TB and intake the TQ will drop earlier though. I wouldnt hesitate to go with that cam sounds good especially for us trucksters. With lighter vehicles I think its easier to drop lsa's as they dont take as much to turn and stop etc... Im still waiting on someone to come along with a 228 on a 108+2 for the NA 5.3 cam only record.

I am not sold on the 224 alone, just the fact that the rpms drop off so rapidly with the 110 after peak. in addition, the chart is tightening and widening from what reference lsa? Stock?

FarmerBeau, I see you are on a custom cam. Are your durations above, at, or below 224? I know you do not want to give it away. Also, what is your converter stall rating?
