Default 160 t-stat and longtube headers=hp/performance

Will these two items be noticable on my 5.3? And will it there be any negatives in putting these on?

I dont know about the t stat, have heard different stories. First hand experience with the headers though, yes they will give you good power.

i would think the t-stat would help since it would be running 30 degrees cooler.

Unless you have efans that you tune to turn on sooner with the cooler t-stat, then it won't run that much cooler. The t-stat will only open up sooner (approx 160* = the temp that the stat BEGINS to open), but eventually the engine will heat up to just about where it normally runs. You may see 5 to 10* cooler temps. I know this from my own experiments with different temp stats (factory-195*, 180*, and 160*), and monitoring my engine temps with a scan tool. The cooler stat will allow you to run more timing before detonation begins...so without the proper tuning, the stat won't do much for you.

The LT's should definitely free up some ponies for you though

I know you have lots of questions, but try some searches, you should be able to answer these questions, then if you cant find it then ask.

anyways ls1 isnt worth it, the truck intake does just as well, but ls6 or fast is a good upgrade

I've heard alot of mixed opinions about the colder stat. Some claim you can damage your engine, plus the gains won't be significant at all. I opted against it because the risk wasn't worth payoff. Use the search button and decide for yourself.

If you don't tune for the Thermostat then you truck will be running richer (worse MPG).... Your Commanded Fuel in Open Loop table is setup to run slightly richer in the 55-100Kpa columns since it determines the commanded AFR by ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) as seen in the highlighted section in the pic below... I am not 100% sure, but it might take you out of closed loop fuel operation sice your commanding a richer mixture than 14.68.... More than likely this is where Hypertech claims you will gain performance... That slightly richer area will also cause a tad bit more timing, depending on how your Spark AFR correction table is set up, stock table will do nothing...

you think a 160 stat would help my truck run a little cooler? if we tuned for it also?
