400-450 hp to the wheels with a 408 under the hood of a DD is a big enough dog for me and where I race.
Lol ok man, good luck. You seem to have it all figured out.

I'm trying to figure out how to mill and get higher compression out of the heads on the stock LQ4.

You just answered your own question. to get higher compression you mill the heads. Remember, you can also control compression with the dish of the piston and the thickness of the head gasket as well. You must take into account all three.

Not trying to talk ****, or discourage you at all. But this shows you need to read up on what you're wanting to do.

You don't need more cubic inches to make the power you want, or more. You need to get a solid estimate on what it's going to cost to properly build a stroked engine. Then you need to see what ppl are doing with forced induction on a 4.8 and how much they are spending. Both are expensive, one has a much better bang for the buck.

I read that about the head gasket in another build thread on here but there wasn't much detail.
I guess the questions I'm asking I should be asking the people at Columbus Engine and crank. What are good numbers to mil the heads to raise compression and is it the deeper the dish of the piston the higher the compression or vice a versa?

Alright cool. Milled 317s are a poor choice.

What if I milled the heads on my 4.8, I've read the 4.8 heads rasie the compression on 6.0s dramaticaly. Would that be better or should I sell both and go for the LS3 or L92 heads?

I'm a little over $5300 for my bottom end. It not just crank, rods, pistons.. It's all the little stuff that adds up quick. Like bearings, main studs, seals, gaskets, oil pump, timing set up. Rockers heads intake..... The list goes on...

I have a lq9,
Callie's compstar crank- $833
Callie's h-beam 6.125 rods- $597
Wiesco -8cc dome pistons- $860
Arp main stud kit- $241

That's just parts not including bearings or labor or machine work done.
The. A good set of heads will run you at least $2000-$2500, a good intake $500-$1000. I'm gonna have around 8-9000$ into my 408. Before I upgrade fuel, trans work, or have any of it tuned...
