going to be boosting a 4.3l in a 2000 silverado. how strong are the internals on these things? and where can i get pistons and rods if needed? can i just get 23* small block pistons and rods? and how big are the heads? will be useing a gt3555r froma sts kit. going low mount with it but not rear mount.

You can put about 8-10psi on the stock internals and still get 50k miles out of them. That's about when the spider fuel injection starts to crap out on you. Look into the Edelbrock 2114 conversion or take your chances with an FMU.

From what I recall, the pistons and rods are the exact same as the Gen 1 350. I also recall that the heads are not that great. How about it InchUp, are there aftermarket or ported heads available that are better than the stockers? Afterall there are a **** ton of heads for the 350. Just wanting to know myself.

try these guys. they do some pretty awesome work

they are strictly 4.3 performance

mostly for the syclones and typhons but im sure they can help you out man

and also have a set of heads for the 4.3 although they are on the pricey side

Like silveradokidd_4518 said, nothing worth the price you end up paying. The 4.3L can make impressive torque and that's about it, N/A. The pistons ARE the same as the old school Chevy 350 but I doubt one would want to tear apart a perfectly good running motor just to bump compression. I'd say boost it until it blows, then do a V8 swap. If you match the turbo correctly, you can use the same turbo that blew up the V6 on the new V8. It's not the ideal way of doing things, but I have seen many guys go with the T68 and T70 turbo for the 4.3L which seems to be a popular choice for the 5.3L as well.

i think he wants about 400whp. he's going to be using a fmu and meth. lots of meth if need be lol. i think the wastegate is 10psi. and the turbo is a gt3555r. he got a sts kit off a guy for $900 so that what we are working with. he also wants a cam. i talk to him about the intake swap but don't you have to get bumgs made into it for injectors? i thought it was a carb setup. i'll be useing my hpt to tune it.

Yeah, injector bungs have to be welded in. Yes, the 2114 manifod is a carb manifold, but a elbow such as this would be installed to adapt the throttle body.

Ive been reading a bit lately on the intake manifold that came on the marine 4.3's, its true MPFIand doesnt have thestupid spider injector, fuel lines and wiring inside of the intake taking up space.

But you will need to integrate most of the vaccum sources/temp sensor/EGR onto this manifold. Along with using your stock throttle body.

If you want some links to more info, just ask.

That would be it, BUT there are quite a few things that need to be changed, none of which I think would be too hard to do.

Read through this thread, its mainly about the L31 Vortec V8 but they are the same as the 4.3, so itll still work. http://www.pacificp.com/forum/viewto...649a6889e7711f

On page 3 of this thread, the OP swaps out the stocker for a marine manifold on his GMC Jimmy. http://www.syty.net/forums/showthrea...light=oil+line
