I posted a few links here regarding the LS6 cam. Scroll down and check them out:

Any reason why you don't want to go with a slightly bigger/different cam?

I have the same truck and am looking for good reliable mods to do to mine also. I am in the process of searching the forums, but would like to know what results others have gotten from their 5.3's. What rear end do you have in your truck?
