222/224 Costume grind cam question

222/224 Custom grind cam question
Greetings to all,
Guys I need you all's expertise on ordering a costume grind comp cam for
my 5.3L Silvy. As of this moment the truck consists of most of the bolt-ons. What it is lacking is a built 4l60 with a performance torque converter and the cam I am about to order to complete my N/A set up.
The cam that I'm ordering is the 222/224 XER @ 112 LSA and am also ordering the 918 springs and 7.40" TSP pushrods.
My question to you is what do I select the Intake centerline to be? Should it be the same as the Lobe separation angle?
My options are 106 ICL through 118ICL.

It's my understanding that you choose your ICL depending on how many degrees you want to advance or retard the cam, example, if you wanted the cam with 4* of advance ground in, and you have a 112 LSA, you'd want a 108 ICL.

I'm going to recommend against the Comp 918 springs, as I'm a little leary about their quality since I've read of some breaking, from the older blue stripe ones to some of the newer silver ones. Do a search around here for "PAC" valve springs and you should find some info about some quality springs that will work for your application.

Kind of off topic...Does anyone know someone at Comp that has good experience with the GENIII engines when choosing a cam?

Hello everyone,
I'm in here once again for your advice. Ive done some research and have concluded that I'm going with a 220/220 XER .581 .581 @ 111 LSA from comp cams. I decided to go with this cam because I do not have worked heads in my 5.3L, and will probably stay like that for a while. Thus because of the unworked heads, the 222/224 would be less dynamic. I also went with the 111 LSA because I want that mid range to be very strong.
Now my dilema, before ordering the 220 /220 is what to choose the ICL to be...Whether 108+3, or 107+4
What do you all recommend and why?

The advance ground (ICL) into the cam helps determine the DCR of the cam. the DCR determines the TQ, where it start and how much it will make... Do your research and calculations...
Also the lobe you get should be determined on the type of heads you have. Higher flowing heads can benefit from more lift...

Thanks for your help guys.
Afterall I went with a 220/220 .581 .581 XER @111 LSA
My best E.T. has been a 13.86 at 97 mph with most of the bolt ons, except the performance torque converter.
As soon as I install the cam and Dyno tune my truck I will hit the track.
