Before I did my swap I comPare the difference between the two heads. Stock 317' to stock 243's. Intake runners had some differences. Combustion chamber is where I saw the big differences. Guess I should have took pictures.

I'm sure once the heads go through a good porters hands all the stock numbers go out the window. I'm sure your heads will be just fine and with the extra compression it really makes a big difference

I think you would have to take away from the combustion chamber on the 317's to make them flow what the 243's do. Then you would have to mill them more to get the CR back..

Oh yea, I'm not worried about my heads and I plan on using them if I ever have a positive balance in my bank account again lol. I'm just curious about the differences and hoped to get some info that might be good for all of us

Would getting my heads p&p be worth it.... based on my planned mods? (Headers/cam in a couple weeks and blower in a few months.)

In my opinion head work is always worth it, to quote John Lingenfelter:

I also agree with Allen's statement, right on the money

Good quotes..
I have tried to pick up an extra set of used to have them worked as opposed to $1000 plus to buy brand new.

When are you planning to install your lq9?

Ya I know how it is. I didn't have money or enough work for 8 months to fix my truck :/. Now that I do I am starting to get addicted. Gonna end up with a weekend warrior sooner or later!
