Seriously though, leave that 5.3 in there till it pops. Put a decent turbo cam or ls6 cam in it, boost it to the moon, with a good tune..
Ha. Lets see yours in future where you come from with.

i think about this one all the time myself. i wish i could figure it out myself. but WCCH has heads that flow over 400cfm for a 4" bore. and they won't work on a 346.

You mean 4" bore mean for 6.0 right? But all I know of is for Ls1 motor able run with 317s 72 chamber heads. I still don't know what to do with two compare engine. Because my dad say that he not like alum block. Since it could be warp block if you ever run hot. I have no idea where it come from. Also I see a iron block bore to ls1. It possbile get overheat. Which I don't wanna run overheat. So 370 is 6.2 liter? I still think of ls1 motor. Which I should buy long block or short block. Which is gonna be cheap $ to be budget for that? I'm curious which is killer gas 370 or 408 lol. I wonder what is normal cost for new ls1 block?

Your dad is old school and the alum blocks were probably poorly cast thus failing. The ls2 block can easily hold north of 1000 hp.

4" bore 6.0 and better yes. the ls1 went through alot of testing before it went in production for things such as warpage. i read somewhere that they would run the motors with hot water (operating temp or better) and the while it was running they would flash super cold water through the block then back to the hot water again. the first ones cracked like you would think. but that was when they were testing materials. its not just pure t0 aluminum it is mixed with other materials and heat treatments and all that good stuff. since then the block have gotten better and better like the 5.3 aluminum blocks in trucks now. and the ls2's and 3's. the ls3 blocks are the basis of the ls9 and lsa motors. they are boosted stock and run pretty good power. these are things to consider when a person says they don';t like aluminum engines. alot of times they just don't understand or don't know about things like this.

to me cooling is no issue at all.
just swap out the 28 inch for a HD 34 inch radiator, shroud and fans.
if that is not enough, their are a few alum duel core with the same hose size and placement, that with just a little modding will fit perfectly.
if a alum duel core is not enough, something went wrong in the build.

you really cannot compair a 370 to a 408, thats like compairing a 4.8 to a 5.7, 285 hp V/s 360 hp LS1 or 405 hp LS6.

i agree, my ls1 would run hot all the time in Maine with my stock radiator. i thought it was the fan, but it ran hot even on the interstate. i swapped in a rad and e-fans from an 05 truck and never had a problem again. the fans hardly ever even had to come on. the 34" rad is so much bigger than the little guy.

Okay, I called SDPC and asked them about ls1 block. They DISCONUTIED. Would only able sell LS6 block. They say Ls6 is 5.7 I puzzled not sure which one LS1 or Ls6 I need get it? They say LS6 cost 938 dollars plus 250 dollars to ship out.

Plus I called Texas-Speed Performance. The guy name is John. We spoked about block to compare with 347-370. I told him what im looking for a performance for streetable, race alittle, and drive daily. I do tow sometimes from Jeep offroad or a boat. They suggest me to get 370. He say that 370 and 347 are almost same mpg if I find a real good tune for that... I want to know 370 is ls7? What excatly liter. Would be 6.2?? Let me know before I can ask about heads.
