An aluminum block will run cooler than an iron block because it dissipates heat better. In the winter it takes forever for it to warm up. ls6 is just a newer version of a ls1. A larger displacement engine will always require more fuel than a smaller one. That is why they go with smaller an smaller engines to increase fuel mileage. I have run two ls1 engines. The first one was replaced after aprox. 65k miles. The 2nd one is getting close to that. Daily drive it carrying 400-500 lbs in the bed. Never had any over heating issues. Luke, you can get used ls1 blocks in the 300-400 dollar range on ls1tech.

Okay, Dave tell me how much did you spend and built on ls1? Have you been done dynoed lately?
I want do is for my truck going to be daily drive. Street/strip, will do race sometimes. Remember I'd dependable on truck a lot and will tow a vechile sometimes. Not as often. Whenever I really need. But absoutly do tow the boat sometimes. Want find a perfect engine what I need. Of course I always want make a power between 450-700 that it.
