Default 370 Build..

Well I figured I'd post this and get some more opinions..I ordered some H-beam Rods and -4cc Mahle Pistons tonight.. gonna have the block tore down either tonight or tomarrow night and get it sent to be bored..gonna have them go ahead and put some cam bearings in it. im just going to get some clevite bearings from one of the sponsors..

One thing I do need to decide on it what thickness of head gasket do i need? I was thinking of cometic .030, it would give me a 10.6:1 compression ratio..would it hurt to go ahead and have my heads milled? they are 241 ls1 heads with a 67cc chamber..how much could i mill them and still retain the 7.4 pushrods?

anyways still need some answers or im just gonna get .030 gaskets and not have them milled because i dont know how much

I heard it was better to run a thicker head gasket and mill the head rather than thinner gasket and not mill the heads..... Maybe some experts will chime in...

You need to figure out were your pistons are going to be at tdc. Use your head gaskets to obtain the 'quench' you are looking for. I would check the heads and deck for flatness. Then machine as needed. Don't forget to replace all tty bolts!

In a nutshell, it is the distance from the top of the piston to the flat of the head. Depending on pistons, heads, and PVC, you want it in the 35 thousands range. If it is to big, you will have detonation, if it is to small the piston may rock and contact the head... got to LS1tech type "Quench" and spend the next ten hours sifting through a ton of info.....
