383 Kit
Hey guys. I have a 97 350 that I have torn apart for rebuild and I am trying to decide between just rebuilding it or going 383. It is going into a jeep rockcrawler. My question is where is the most cost effective kit to purchase? I have seen em from 600 to 2200, but dont really know what I nedd/looking for.
Thanks
Mike

Depending on if you are planning on nitrous, supercharger, or turbo then you want all forged components; however, if not and you are planning on keeping power below 600 crank hp and below 6000 rpms, a good cast crank, forged rods and pistons will be fine.
I used an Eagle crank and Probe Forged pistons in my 383 engine.
However, Scat is also a good crank to go with as well.

Jeepnfool; I know some rockcrawelers that install a roots blower for instant torque.
I have a site that has full ready to roll kits with cast crank and forged pistons for about $1100 but they are not a sponsor so you need to PM me.
Only thing you'll need to do is have it balanced by a reputable shop.

I actually had it all looked at today. All I am going to do is go with a rering kit. I think that will be plenty. I just hope the company I am looking at has good products.
