as KB said you can reach 550 or even 500 for that price but you have to be the one fab'in all your own stuff. you can easily do a turbo kit for that price but again you have to do work yourself.

I'm 5275 deep in mine nowexactly... And I already had the trans and converter. And a stock rear... That's next on the list. Figure 700ish on top of what I've alreay spent...

There's the realistic 7-9K that has already been mentioned.

But I'm doing pretty much as cheap as possible and still using all new stuff. I've got about 500 in guages alone. And 400 give or take in the fuel system...

im just speaking up as you can build it for alot less. the basics can get you going. if you take my basic turbo build [no fancy crap i have or stuff i over did] i only have about 3200 into mine. if some can get deals on parts some might have less money into theirs.

That's true... I have wanted this build to happen since I bought this truck, so I probably spent more in some areas than absolutely necessary. But realistically, if you buy a complete kit, I've done it fairly inexpensive... And still gotten everything I have wanted.

Why not forge the bottom, add caltracs and spray the crap out of it? maybe have some money left for some more driveline parts.

Does it have the 243 heads? The higher flowing heads and lower compression makes it a good candiadate for a supercharger. You could probably get a 475rwhp pretty cheaply and reliably.

If you're on a serious budget, then nitrous is the route for you. Sure it's not there everytime you hit the pedal, but 5K could get you a nice kit and have money left over for a tranny, converter, and maybe budget heads and cam. If you want the power all the time though, keep saving. Do it once and do it right. You might be able to get it all done with used parts from around here, but that's a risk most don't want to take.
