Default 4.8 to 6.0 in 9 hours

The 6.0 is alive. it looks sooo stock. While its fresh on my mind I'll throw some things out there. Had to use 4.8 flywheel, had to swap plug for hose for brake booster, '6.0 was hydroboost". Other than that, it was an engine exchange. The 6.0 pcm is not working good. trans has only 2nd gear and the battery light is on even tho the alt. is charging. The 4.8 pcm is being tuned now. I drove it 5 miles home last night. Roads were wet and I only had second. Anywhere in 2nd, tirespin was directly related to any heavy thottle input. Engine runs great!!! Thank you , every single person who has ever reponded to any of my posts. YOU helped me get here! Please don't ask if I recommend doing this swap!

Cheers!!!

I teach @ night @ the local College. I used it as a project in my engine repair class. We have class two nights a week and it took us two nights. I have some jam-up students. We had a lift and 4 guys and all the tools we needed. Thanks for the kind words.

PCM is probably programmed to run a 4L80E, and if it came out of an 01 or newer truck it was supposed to have a 3-wire alternator, 99-00 trucks had a 2-wire, so it's missing a needed input, hence the battery light. Once you get your old PCM back in there you should be fine.

Congrats on the new motor.

Good job! I agree with Thunder, the tuning is most likely the cause of your tranny problems.

BTW, update your sig Welcome to the club

congrats but weird...
i was told to use the 4.8 flywheel on the boards here on my 6.0 but it blew my tranny the tranny shop called for the 4l60e flywheel and I told them that was it, so I brought the one that came off the 6.0 and they told me that was the correct one. what I thought happened is i took it off and instead of swappin i musta mixed em up and put it right back on, but I looked back at the pics and for some reason the one that came on the 6.0 which i swear had a 4l80e was the one that needed to be bolted up to work
