I say since you have a the short stroke motor, stick the GM grand am cam in there:

While you are at it, put in some katech rod bolts and let the thing fly!
Or you could do like others and swap in a 6.0L, but where is the originality in that?

First is the combustion chamber shape and size LS6 heads have 64.45cc & the 4.8/5.3 head sports 61.15cc …So given that if you use the LS6 head without milling them you will lose compression (not good) If you use them have your machine shop mill them .030” to .035”.
Secondly and most importantly the lS6 head will out flow the 4.8/5.3 head .
Don’t spend too much money building up a set of lS6 heads…
Here is the mistake I made:
New 05 GTO heads $500
Comp Valve $300
Milling & ccing $200
Raduis under seat area $200
Patrriot Performance sprgs & ret $285
Total $1485.00
After spending that much money I could had saved just a little more and had a nice set of after market CNC heads
