This wouldn't work in a truck like you guys have but I have a lot of room in the 72 blazer engine area.

i just thought about something, if the 4.8 and the 5.3 have the same bore couldn't you swap the flat top 4.8 pistons into a 5.3 to give a compression bump without milling the heads???

Transcooler, transcooler, transcooler.

How much does it weigh, what sort of mods are you thinking? I would say a 2600/2800 right off the top of my head. It's one of the smallest converters over stock that Yank sells. If you were planning to go with Yank that is.

I want to at least run a tr224 cam and I have 3:73's with a 295/40/20 on back which is 29 inches tall. It probably weighs in 500 to 800 lbs less than a newer rcsb truck. The blazer is a full convertable right now but I will run a fiberglass 1/2 top and a aluminum bed cover but it still will weigh less than a truck. If I knew how to post pics I would show what I am working on.

I don't go by the method prescribed by others, I go my own way. I'm not going to sit here and think about every last mod and try to figure out what will be optimal. What manufacturer are you going with for the torque converter? I was just looking at the Yank SST 3200 myself. Sounds pretty good to me.
