You bore a LS1 .010 and put a 4" stroker crank and appropriate pistons in it to get a 383. You can do the same thing with a 5.3, only your boring it .134 which it can handle just fine there are at least a half a dozen 5.3 on the board that I know of that have been bored out to LS1 bore sizes and I have never heard of any of them failing or cracking the cylinder. Most of them around here are also FI motors, Like BlownChevy.

if you're talking stroker stuff, youre going to have to buy pistons, rods, and a crank no matter what block you put them in. in my opinion, theres no point spending the money to bore your 5.3, then buy the rotating assembly to make a 383. if you're going to buy all this stuff, why not put it all into a 6.0 block and have a 402 or 408, for exactly the same money. theres an easy 50 ft.lbs and 50 hp just in the displacement difference. theres really no good reason to make a 383 out of a 5.3....at least not cost wise. theres no cheap or half assed way to do it. either spend the money on a turbo kit, or on a 6.0 stroker, and stop fu*&ing around.
