how much does the car weigh? if its a straight up street strip car, go for it. a dd will be another story. get a l33 5.3 with flat top pistons, and 79/243 heads with work done and a mill arp bolts and studs and spin it high with a fast 90 or better intake with a 3800-4000 stall and 4.10 gears and have fun.

I do believe that the 99-06 5.3's have dished pistons and the NNBS 07-up have flat top pistons...

it could be, but a stall that size would be suitable for a cam in the mid to high 22x duration range. i would use at least a 4000.

hell i have a TR224/112 and a 3200, and i think it could use a little more stall

Don't listen to these fools no one reeally knows how it will work. They're all speculating because very few people try this sort of thing. I've done it (twice now) and it worked swimmingly lol I make power past 6800rpm with the truck intake. And as far as daily driving...I do it everyday. Drivability is all in the tune. Mine drives like stock, just sounds badass

no doubt the truck intake will make power past 6800, but another intake would take full advantage of the cam. im sure it will make power upwards of 7k

The truck intake would be the first thing to go...no room for it in my firebird.
I have an ls1 intake, and corvette oil pan already...for clearance reasons.

So you have put 2 ms4s in 5.3ls? If so, since you have done it, what were the necessary supporting mods? I was trying to go 5.3 instead of an ls1 build into my 6er, because it would be cheaper...then i got my hands on the ms4 cam before I got a motor. So now Im trying to figure out which would be cheaper as far as what will have to be modded to get it to work. I may have just found an incredible deal on a ls camaro...in which case, it will have a nasty cam if I get my hands on it. Otherwise, Im tryin to stick to the 5.3 idea.

when you Overcam an engine you increase the Peak rpm point but you will literally Dump all your Average Power out the Window and watch the power curve drop, there are better ways to get a rowdy exhaust note and I hope you spend most of your driving time at 7000rpm caus thats the only place you'd beat a 220-220 at .050 cam in the same engine IMHO, No Offense and it will work but you'd really need to Match your parts better to make it Livable enough to drive everyday IMO, that means 11.75:1 comp forged flat tops, Gapless top rings,ARP studs, and rod bolts, Some 205cc 300cfm TFS 5.3 heads Milled, Long Tube Headers 3" exhaust, 4500 Vert, 4.56 Gears, Then with a Really good tune, a Good intake/TB i think you's absolutely Fly JMO
