5.3 to 6.0 lq9?

Default 5.3 to 6.0 lq9?

Is it worth the swap? will my Pacesetters and K&N and other stuff fit? What do i need to change to get it into my avalanche?

If I were you I would swap in an LQ4 6.0 instead of the LQ9. Just ask GMCtrk, he will tell you the same thing. The LQ4 is cheaper from the start, and you have better options to work with if you plan on modding it. The problem with the LQ9 is that the pistons make it hard to put a good aftermarket head on it because the compression would be too high.

yea well ur right bout the cheaper part...so ur suggesting i get a Lq4 which is in a GMC denali if im right? and will most of my mods fit on it? my camshaft is a GT11 will it work well? and im getting new heads which ones do u suggest?

No the Denali has an LQ9. The LQ4 comes in the 2500-3500 series trucks and 2500 sub/tahoes. All of your mods will work with it as it uses the same architecture as the 4.8/5.3.

As far as heads go, it really depends on what your future plans are. F/I or N/A?
Also, what transmission do you plan on using? You need to find an 01+ LQ4 if I'm not mistaken if you plan on keeping the 4l60e.

As long as you get the correct year LQ4, the engine itself should bolt right in. I believe you will have to swap your current flex plate over to the 6.0 so the converter will bolt up. Also you're going to have to find a way to convert over your engine harness unless you get a Gen IV (2007+) 6.0

No problem, but don't take everything I've said as 100% true, as I'm just going off of memory here. You definitely need to do your own research and read up on doing the swap (specifically in a Gen IV application such as yours). Good luck.

Yea, since you're a GENIV, it's not as direct a swap as an 07+ would be for you. Your current crank has a 58x reluctor on it vs. the 24x reluctor on GENIII engines. Lingenfelter makes a converter box, but from what I've read here, it doesn't seem to be 100% perfected yet as some guys have had crank sensor signal issues. The cam sensors are also in different positions, as well as the knock sensors. The GENIV's also have a one bolt sprocket cam with the cam sensor pickup tab built into it, vs the 3 bolt sprocket and separate cam sensor reluctor that is built into the rear of the camshaft on the GENIII's. Just a few things to keep in mind as you search for a 6.0 Now, a GENIV 6.2 should be a direct swap I believe
