Default 5.3L build

hey guys. i have a 2000 5.3L silverado. i'm looking to get loads of torque out of it. i'm planning full bolt ons, intake, lt headers, electric water pump, intake manifold and tb, and custom tune. for heads i was thinking tsp stage 2.5 5.3l heads. for a torque converter i was gonna let yank pick one for me. i have no idea what to do for a cam. any thoughts and suggestions would be nice.

For a truck cam, I am a huge advocate for the Comp Cams XR259. The intake manifold is the best one you can have right now for a truck, and the electric water pump is for race-only applications...not very reliable for daily transportation. You'll turn a torquey 5.3L into a race 5.3L quickly with "stage 2.5" anything heads. This isn't a Corvette remember, it's a truck. Have yours milled down for 10.0-10.5 compression and have your machine shop recommend what he thinks your heads should have done to them to improve the flow where a truck needs it most (throttle response, improved cylinder filling, atomization ect). Good idea on the intake, headers, exhaust and tune though.

I am getting ready to order me the same tsp (prc) 5.3 stage 2.5 heads for my set-up. The specs are awsome and the price is right for my budget. They look like a good match for you and the z06 cam. Who says you cant have a "truck" that moves as fast as a "vette"!!!

so drop the electric water pump. zo6 cam er the xr259. i'll look into those. head work isn't really an option, i live in the middle of wyoming. so as far as i know, i'm leaving the state for any machine work. just fer fun, can anyone suggest a shop "close" to me? oh, and how much compression could i run on 92 octane?

"The intake manifold is the best one you can have right now for a truck" is that the stocker yer talking about?

Yes I do mean the stock intake.

92 octane and a good tune and you can squeeze 11:1 compression out of her.

alright, sweet. if i got the xr259 and 1.85:1 roller rocker arms, would just make more power across the board? or would it change the characteristics of the cam?

I'd use the stock roller rockers because the hefty bill of 1.8's or 1.85's aren't worth the few hp you get from them. The intake manifold is injected nylon plastic and can't be worked over, the throttle body you can send out to Damion (check spelling on his name) search for him, should come up along side of ported TB's.

alright i'll look into that. would you know what kind of gains i could expect from a worked throttle body? lets say i get my heads worked, and get say .040(???) taken off, would i need shorter push rods er wouldn't that matter? oh, and with bolt ons, cam, and heads, would i need bigger injectors?
